A number of measures are to be introduced in order to improve safety for bathers at Paphos beaches.
The Cyprus Tourism Organization has announced that billboards are to be installed at the access points to all dangerous beaches in the area, with clear warnings of the possible dangers of swimming.
The warnings will be written in four different languages.
Life jackets and rope will also be placed at dangerous coastal locations.
The announcement follows the death of a 32-year-old man who drowned after being swept away by waves in the Venus coastal area of Paphos.
Pandelis Stylianou’s body was found floating near the beach after he had been carried away by high waves while swimming with a friend last Sunday.
According the head of Paphos police, many bathers are daily facing dangerous currents in the area, which is not adequately covered by lifeguards.
