A FlyNiki flight from Larnaca to Vienna was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Turkey on Monday, after smoke was detected in the plane.
According to reports, the flight diverted from its scheduled route and landed at Antalya airport in Turkey.
180 passengers were onboard.
The following statement was sent to the Famagusta Gazette from the airline:
“During take-off of flight HG2185 from Larnaca to Vienna, there was a slight smoke emission as well as an indication light in the Cockpit for a short period of time of approximately one minute. The indication light turned off after a short period of time. Nevertheless, the cockpit Crew decided to do a security landing in Antalya, Turkey. The aircraft landed under normal conditions and the guests disembarked the aircraft normally. The incident has been reported by NIKI to Austrocontrol and will be investigated. NIKI provided a spare aircraft and flew the guests to Vienna. airberlin and NIKI regret the inconveniences that occurred to the guests. ”
