Russia’s Far East city holds tourism expo to attract Asia-Pacific visitors

TRAVEL GAZETTE – The Pacific International Tourism Expo (PITE) 2016 opened at Russia’s Far East Federal University here Friday, with the attendance of representatives of some 200 companies from Russia and other Asian-Pacific countries to boost local tourism.

Organized by the Department of Tourism of Russia’s Primorsky region, the exhibition, the largest local annual event with an eye to providing a platform to develop tourism in the Far East region, is expected to attract 25,000 visitors and tourism professionals from around the world to present their products and services.

Governor of Primorsky region Vladimir Miklushevsky said that the government wishes to make the Far East region attractive to international tourists, adding that Russia’s first free port of Vladivostok will help stimulate the local tourism industry.
