TRAVEL GAZETTE – The Ministry of Hotel and Tourism of Myanmar approved 16 new hotels across the country within six months of this year, official media reported .
The ministry granted 16 out of 36 proposals to develop hotels through inspections including assessments on environmental impacts.
There are 1,356 hotels with over 53,000 rooms across the country until July this year.
The country has lifted restrictions on granting operating licenses to both local and foreign investors in the hospitality industry to boost tourism sector since 2011.
The country estimated that tourist arrivals are to reach 7.49 million by 2020 under the country’s tourism master plan (2013-2020) .
