Sofia Airport of Bulgaria achieved a double-digit growth year on year in May 2017 in terms of volumes of passengers, aircraft traffic and cargo, according to an airport statement issued Monday.
In May, the airport served 559,542 passengers, a 36.4-percent increase compared to the same period in 2016, the statement said.
Meanwhile, 5,043 aircraft landed in and took off from Sofia Airport in May, a 13.4-percent increase year on year. The volume of processed cargo and mail shipments rose by 32.5 percent to 1,944 tons, the statement added.
Official data showed that Sofia Airport, the largest airport in Bulgaria, received a total of 4,980,387 passengers and 51,829 aircraft, and processed 21,157 tons of freight in 2016.
