THE tourism product in Cyprus continues to shine, with new figures showing a big boost in revenues from the sector, reports the Famagusta Gazette.
Holiday related taking reached €371million in September 2017 – making a 10 percent increase on the same time last year.
The figures were compiled by the Cyprus Statistical Service, on the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey.
The expenditure per person for September 2017 reached €766million.
The expenditure per person/per day for tourists from the United Kingdom recorded a decrease of 9.7% (from €83,69 in September 2016 to €75,58 in September 2017), the expenditure per person/per day for tourists from Russia decreased by 7.2% (from €88,32 to €81,96) and for tourists from Israel also decreased by 12.6% (from €138,65 to €121,15).
He assured that the effort underway aims to strengthen the Cyprus Tourism Organisation so that it can promote the Cypriot tourist product more effectively.
