AN EasyJet flight from Berlin to Cyprus aborted take-off on Tuesday afternoon due to a technical problem, with passengers offloaded and moved to different aircraft.

Flight EZY4727 was heading to Larnaca, when the pilot aborted take-off on the Schoenefeld runway just after 2.30pm.

“We were speeding down the runway, when suddenly the brakes slammed on and the plane came to a halt. It was all quite frightening, but the passengers were very good humoured and seemed more relieved than anything else,” a passenger said.

The same passenger said an announcement from the captain pointed the blame at a fault with a wheel, which he said caused excessive vibrations during the take-off run.

Fire engines and trucks surrounded the aircraft, as technicians made an inspection – passengers remained onboard.

After a crew change, passengers were eventually transferred to another aircraft, which eventually departed at 17.52.
