Ethiopian Airlines will launch a new nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) on June 9, 2018.

It will be the first-ever direct scheduled passenger service between Chicago and Africa.

The new service will be offered three-times weekly, with flights departing O’Hare on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday; and arriving on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday using a 270-seat Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

Further, the service is expected to bring $70 million in annual economic impact to the Chicago region.

“Ethiopian Airlines is striving to accelerate the U.S.-Africa connection as part of our service expansion plan, and we are thrilled that new direct service to Chicago will allow us to serve one of the most visited cities in the United States,” said Mr. Tewolde Gebre Mariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.
