Cyprus gears up for bumper tourism year

TRAVEL GAZETTE – Cyprus is gearing up for another bumper holiday season, with earnings from the travel  industry shooting up by 8.5 percent year-on-year in January, according to the Cyprus statistical service.

Revenues earned by directly through tourism hit €38.4 million in January this year, compared with €35.4m in the same month in 2017.

There was also recent good news about arrivals figures, as February saw 101,481, holidaymakers compared with 82,209 in February 2017.

This week also marked the beginning of the cruising season, with a new passenger terminal opening at Limassol port.
