France and Russia will implement a joint humanitarian project in Syria in the coming days to respond to the needs of civilians in the Eastern Ghouta (Duma), particularly to meet medical needs in hospitals managed by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the French presidency has announced.

The aid, which consists of essential medical equipment (emergency and intensive care medicine for 500 heavy casualties, basic drugs for treatment of 15,000 minor injuries), will help meet the acute humanitarian needs of Eastern Ghouta populations, the French presidency said in a statement.

Russia will ensure the route from France to Syria by air. Upon arrival, the convoy of freight will be provided in accordance with the rules of the United Nations, with the support of Russia and in compliance with international humanitarian law, the French presidency said.
