The number of passengers that travelled through Albania’s only international airport, Tirana International Airport (TIA) in May increased by 13 percent year-on-year, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reports.
According to the official data of the CAA, in May the number of passengers that travelled through TIA amounted to 250,694 passengers.
In this period the majority of passengers chose to travel to Italy with the Italian airline companies, registering 129,067 passengers or 51 percent of the total number of passengers, followed by Turkey with 8 percent and Austria with 7 percent.
In May 2019, Charter flights decreased with 11 percent year-on-year.
According to the CAA data, in this period Lufthansa Airlines and Ernest Airlines had the biggest increase in the number of passengers, respectively by 84 and 78 percent compared to last year.
